El Consulado se ocupo\u0301 de la conservacio\u0301n de la Ri\u0301a asi\u0301 como de las relaciones mercantiles rigie\u0301ndose por las conocidas y pioneras Ordenanzas de la Ilustre Universidad y Casa de Contratacio\u0301n de la M.N. y M.L. Villa de Bilbao.
